Questions
What do I need?
A Mac with macOS 14 or later, and a pair of AirPods. Volume above 100% needs macOS 14.2 or later.
Why does macOS warn me when I open it?
AirPane isn't notarized by Apple yet, so macOS asks you to confirm the first time. It takes a minute: here's how to open it. Notarization needs a paid Apple developer membership, and it's coming as soon as sales cover it.
What happens when the beta ends?
AirPane becomes a paid app. Every beta copy pauses on the same day for everyone (reinstalling doesn't reset it) and points you to this site. Your settings are kept.
Is it free? How much is it?
Yes, during the beta. After that it's planned to be a one-time purchase of $6.99, never a subscription.
It's a one-time purchase of $6.99, never a subscription, and it works on all your own Macs. If it isn't right for you, you get a full refund within 30 days.
Does it work with Beats or other headphones?
Not yet. AirPane is made for AirPods for now, and support for other headphones may come later.
I have more than one pair. Does that work?
Yes. With two or more pairs, the name at the top of the panel becomes a menu that lists each pair with its battery; pick one to switch.
What if my AirPods are with my iPhone, or lost?
The panel shows when they were last seen and a Connect to this Mac button that works within Bluetooth range. When they've gone quiet, a Find My button is right there too. AirPane never shares their location.
Is the volume boost safe?
Listening above 100% can damage your hearing. AirPane warns you when boost is on and reminds you after 20 minutes of boosted listening. Boost turns itself off when you change the output, disconnect or put the Mac to sleep.
No tracking, ever. Not notarized by Apple yet, coming as soon as sales cover it. Here's how to open it →
